To my fellow protectors

My name is Kenny Gant. In my eight-year career as an NFL player, I was affectionately known to my fans as “The Shark.” My career was marked by a lot of joy – particularly my years with the Dallas Cowboys, when I was a two-time Super Bowl Champion.

Unfortunately, it was also marked with great tragedy. Growing up in the small town of Lakeland, Florida, I was very close to my six brothers and four sisters. For example, I told my sister Cynthia that as soon as I received my first paycheck from the Cowboys I would rent a fully furnished apartment for her.

I never got the chance. The very week I received my first check…my sister was shot four times and killed in front of her five year old son. I was powerless to prevent that incident. However I vowed that I would do whatever I could to protect other victims of domestic violence.

One way you can help is by participating in the annual “Shark 29 Charities 4th Annual Golf Tournament on May 13, 2024 at Hackberry Creek, 1901 W Royal Ln, Irving, TX 75063. We will have local celebrities and various contests and auctions benefiting the relentless pursuit of safety for women and children.
